Wainscoting

Wainscoting is made as raised panel, unassembled, custom sized to each wall. All parts are machined to interlock with each other. We layout each wall so there are no part size panels and all panels appear to be the same size on that wall. Normally the only cutting necessary is to the top and bottom rails, and possibly to either the first or last verticle style.

Wainscoting can be made for straight walls, stairs walls, and under windows walls.

Paint Grade: Manufactured from a medium density fiberboard. We suggest an oil/alkyd primer be used and after the primer has dried, that all machined areas be slightly sanded. Wall layouts are normally laid out with a base panel width of 14" and 26". This means no panel width will be larger that the base panel size selected. Naturally a small wall will have a small panel reguardless of the base panel width selected.

White Pine, Oak, Maple, Mahogany and  Cherry: All lumber used does not contain any knots. Base panel width is 10-1/2". Base panel widths larger than 10-1/2" can be manufactured for an upcharge.

Heights: Normally the section height of panels using a base panel width of 10-1/2" and 14" is 33-5/8" high. The section height of panels using a base panel width of 26" is 30-3/4" high. These heights do not account for whatever chair rail is used. If a different height is needed this can be manufactured.

Ending Conditions: It is necessary for us to know what happens at each end of the wall being panelled. By knowing this we are able to determine what type of vertical styles are needed at each end of the wall. The exposed area of the wainscoting is sometimes effected by these conditions. We allow for these changes based on the ending conditions.

Walls with Windows & Stair Wall: Contact us if a window is lower to the floor than the height of the wainscoting or if wainscoting is to be insatlled on a stair wall. These are special conditions that we will either fax or mail an instruction sheet on how to measure.
